Crisis Services

NHS Urgent Mental Health Helpline: available 24 hours a day (England only). Find your local helpline.

Shout Mental Health Crisis Text Service: text “SHOUT” to 85258 anytime for free, anonymous, and confidential text support.

Papyrus: prevention of young suicide, under 35 years. Call 0800 068 41 41 (9am-10pm weekdays, 2pm-10pm weekends) or text 07786 209697. Email pat@papyrus-uk.org

CALM: prevention of suicide, in men and women. Call 0800 58 58 58 or webchat, 5pm-midnight 365 days a year.

Young Minds Crisis Messenger: text “YM” to 85258 (if under 19) anytime for free, anonymous, and confidential text support.

Childline: call Childline on 0800 1111 (if under 19), 7.30am-3.30am Monday-Friday, 9am-3.30am Saturday-Sunday, the number will not appear on the phone bill.

Male Voice ED
A charity providing a platform for male narratives around eating disorders and co-morbid conditions.

Apps, information and resources supporting teenage mental health (including eating disorders).

Provides tools for eating disorder recovery and training for those who work in areas where they are likely to encounter people with eating disorders, for example education, health, and youth work.

Previously known as NIWE. Provides independent confidential services to people affected by eating distress across the North East of England.
